Overcoming Bloglessness

Daily Prompt: Feed Your Senses

Write down the first sight, sound, smell, and sensation you experienced on waking up today. Pick the one you’re most drawn to, and write. (For a bigger challenge, pick the one you’re least drawn to.)Photographers, show us one of the five senses — bonus points for depicting a smell!

I’m Flying and I Can’t Get Up!

I awoke, remembering my dream. It was a flying dream, of sorts.

I was in the Superman-approved flying position, my arms properly outstretched, but I was flying too low, skimming just inches above the wet lawn and puddles.

I tried to gain altitude, tried to think myself higher. I’ve done it before.  When I hooked-up with a bio-feedback machine I was able to keep the airplane on the monitor at the required altitude, using only the power of concentration.

But, in the dream, I could not get up.

I wondered why I dreamed that dream.  What does it mean?

It means get up and drink coffee.

And so I did.

Now, smell these lilacs!

My favorite fragrance.

My favorite fragrance.

For many years I have suffered from debilitating bloglessness, only writing in my head, while everyone else posted and shared with ease. Previous attempts at recovery have failed, my secret journals edited to death, pages torn out, crumpled and trashed. I will not succumb to this embarassing condition. I will continue to struggle against the rampant backspacing and endless blank staring. I refuse to relapse into the void that is bloglessness. I can do it. I am doing it. I am Overcoming Bloglessness.
