Overcoming Bloglessness

Captain Oh-Wow!

Daily Prompt:  A Form of Flattery.
Write a post about any topic you want, but in the style of an author or a blogger you admire.

I shall attempt the style of Martha Kennedy, although I dare not infer that I could write that well. I always admire the way she uses dialog to present a story. I should be so clever.
Here’s Martha’s blog, I’m A Writer, Yes I Am .

“Captain Oh-Wow would say Oh, Wow!” Ray pegs his 21 point hand.

“Shut up. Captain Oh-Wow is dead; didn’t anyone tell ya? I hate to be the one.”  His mouth drops open in mock shock. I shuffle and deal.

“Who is Captain Oh-Wow anyway? Is that a thing? Or did you make it up?” I’d been hearing the Captain Oh-Wow bit for years. The silent smirk says he made it up.

“You made up Captain Oh-Wow?! And you’re just telling me this now? How are you sitting here, undiscovered? How does the world not know this?”

He throws down a four; his favorite open.

“Eight, for two.” I fall for it.

“Twelve, for six.”

“Dammit!”

“Serves you right for making fun of Captain Oh-Wow.”

“Yeah, well Captain Oh-Wow said you should go…”

“Just play nice.”

“Seventeen”

“Twenty-eight.”

“Go.”

“Thirty-one.”

“Phooey.”

For many years I have suffered from debilitating bloglessness, only writing in my head, while everyone else posted and shared with ease. Previous attempts at recovery have failed, my secret journals edited to death, pages torn out, crumpled and trashed. I will not succumb to this embarassing condition. I will continue to struggle against the rampant backspacing and endless blank staring. I refuse to relapse into the void that is bloglessness. I can do it. I am doing it. I am Overcoming Bloglessness.
