Overcoming Bloglessness

Untouchable

Daily Prompt  Nightmare Job. In honor of Labor Day in North America, tell us what’s the one job you could never imagine yourself doing.

Your job is to get up before dawn every morning and gather  human waste from the huts in the village.   You will find baskets, full of excrement, set outside the door of each hut.   You will dump the contents into a larger basket which you balance on your head as you walk from hut to hut.  When the larger basket is full you will dump it at the designated area far from the village, near the river.

You will do this job every day for the rest of your life.  There is no opportunity for advancement.  You may not resign.  You will not be paid well.

You are untouchable, the lowest caste.

Here’s your basket.

For many years I have suffered from debilitating bloglessness, only writing in my head, while everyone else posted and shared with ease. Previous attempts at recovery have failed, my secret journals edited to death, pages torn out, crumpled and trashed. I will not succumb to this embarassing condition. I will continue to struggle against the rampant backspacing and endless blank staring. I refuse to relapse into the void that is bloglessness. I can do it. I am doing it. I am Overcoming Bloglessness.

  1. Well thank goodness you did! This posting is very strong…in both senses of the word! Judy

  2. At least in China they call them “Honey collectors” and the bicycle they drove once upon a time with the oil drum of excrement on the back was a “honey bucket.”

  3. And we softies dare to complain about our lot?

  4. That would be a horrible job.
